DHCP Client Problem

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address <MAC address>. Event
Id 1003

This happens only on the first boot with several desktops with windows xp
pro w/sp2. Then we unplug the cable and plug again or do ipconfig /renew and
the problem is solved!!
On my DHCP Server there is no any error on eventvwr or on the logs of dhcp,
always giving sucessful aknowledge!
We've already check if our switches were making arp cache negative or any
protocols or ACLs that could create the problem but it seems everything is
fine!

Any idea? This only happens on the first boot or power on the machines!!

Thanks in advance.

Check firstly for powersave options on the LAN card. These may be causing
intermittency.

The issue might also be due to a firewall-driver blocking ports 67/68 until
its GUI component is loaded, which possibly happens after the LAN is up.

We don't have any policy for powersave options and that is not definitvely
the problem and the ports that you referred are ok and open.

Anyway thanks for the hints.
