Cannot defrag - never needed it yet, but I still do this monthly to check.
Only changes seems to be removing IE7, and the SP3, which I 'noticed' seems
to have been in these threads in the past as a ? cause. However, I've also
'lost' my EPSON scanner connection -- use Kurzweil 1000 as adaptive program
for blind, but it won't work w/o Scanner. Re-installed scanner from mfg. CD
but still no 'connection.' EPSON not responsive. :-(

This is not a networked system.

XP Pro, SR2, SP3, Word 2003, Avast, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender "ON," OneCare
run weekly; Spyware Blaster run weekly; Internet Temp files removed weekly.

What do I do?Thank you everyone.

(remove dashes add windstream )

PS: Message re scanner reads: Scanner selected is different from the one
connected?
All updates to Kurzweil 1000 are current, same for Epson 4180 Perfection
scanner.
thank you

Disconnect the scanner, uninstall the software.
Look for folder associated with scanner that contains 'Twain' files,
if the folder still exist after the uninstall, then delete these files and
the associated folder. Then reboot the PC.

Next: Check 'Device Manager' to verify scanner is no longer seen.
(If it's still there remove it and reboot)

Note: Most scanners require that you install the software before
connecting the scanner, so re-install scanner software and then
power down the PC and then reconnect the scanner.
