Determine Client SP version

How would an administrator go about finding the SP version
of all client computers in a domain with an NT server but
mostly Win2K client computers? We are trying to upgrade
all clients to SP3 but only want to do the ones that are
NOT SP3, through SMS.

I'd go for a hotfix management tool. Shavlik do Hfnetchk
Pro. They have a cmd line tool, but the GUI version is
more "user friendly". You can scan an IP range, or one
box at a time.
