DesktopX, Windows Blinds froze XP

I sent an email to Stardock support but I also back up my registries every
now and then so I will uninstall and deltele every instance of stardock,
restore pre winblinds 5 (WB5) reggies and reboot. Would this be wise? WB5
changes the GUI and sits pretty close to the OS so I don't want to make it
worse.

One more question..some applications auto LOG their install, how can I setup
to LOG every installations' directories in full? thanks for your

I like Neowin for news and technology gossip but <personal opinion> I would
never use any of their files. </personal opinion>

Windows Blinds runs as a "layer" over XP so uninstalling and cleaning up
afterwards *should* yield decent results. No promises since I don't know
what changes were done to crack the program. Sometimes get odd side effects
from workarounds of that nature.

For logging installs: Some - but not many - apps will log their
installations. If available, the .log file is usually stashed in the
program's folder or subfolders. Other than that, there are third party
programs that can record changes made be software installations. I've tried
a few but abandoned them as I did not like the additional overhead. Maybe
you'll find a better one than I did?

The name of this program, of course, is WindowBlinds -- NOT "Windows
Blinds".

http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/

But our barefoot empiricist -- the "chef" -- can't even get that right --
much less avoid being so stupid as to install a cracked version on his
ageing computer and then wonder why his OS is frozen and non-functioning.

He was in fact too stupid just to pay $19.95 for a legitimate download of
the Enhanced version 5.0.

WindowBlinds appears to be one of the most worthless pieces of software one
could image....

BUT it seems to be designed just right for the mentality of the Technical
Cybernetic Masturbator [TCM], who wants to play with his computer, rather
than get any useful work done on it.

'Nuff Said.

Gratias ago vos pro rectus. I hate being caught with such erratum in
conversation.

[ed:Sp."ageing" to "aging"]
[ed:pleonastic. Redundant."frozen and non-functioning" - consider revising]
[ed:Caps."chef" should be "Chef" as is "Sous Chef"]

My OS would 'hang' for a bit but was still functional. The GUI had problems
with repainting.
See this Stardock forum for 'crack' issue fix:

Basically they ask you to download the real WBlinds and use it to uninstall
the 'hack.

Lesson learned;
Beware the scourage of FTP downloads...and haste. I$ that Canadian?

[ed:typo. "could image..." to 'could imagine...' or 'could see'.]

Funny you should ask! Window Blinds is the leading themer (not patcher) out
there, they also painted the screen in front of you. Microsoft lisensed them
to create the three original XP themes.
DesktopX although a fun novelty, IS overhang and waste of resources.

Some people just plain don't like music or art in general either, I (and
probably everyone else) don't care what your likes and dislikes are.
Thanks for your musings, however I find it difficult to believe you do
anything
"useful" with your machine considering the material in your posts, you're a
flamer.
