when my computer does automatic updates, something usually malfunctions. This
time my active desktop was turned off and i can't get it back on. It doesn't
prohibit me from signing on to the inet but it's a bother to have it off.
When i click the reactivate box an error comes up. I didn't add or change
anything to the desktop so i don't know why i'm getting this error. Also my
computer is painfully slow. I'm trying to delete many of my files but it's
not helping so far. What do i need to do to get up and going without taking
so much time to sign on, grt bumped off the sign-in and to go from one screen
to another more quickly? Mary B

The active desktop problem is likely to be a setting in the Internet
Options. IE, tools menu, options, Advanced tab, scroll down to the Security
items, where you will see a checkbox for 'allow active content to run on my
computer.'
