Desktop wallpaper keeps changing

I'm not sure if this is the right group or not. I have Vista Home Basic and
I'm having issues with my wallpaper that I can't seem to fix. I set the
wallpaper or theme and then it changes and cycles through all the pictures I
have stored in the computer. I want to be able to set the picture and have
it stay. Does anyone else have this issue or a way to fix this? Help would
be greatly appreciated.

I have it cycling through pictures stored on my computer too, but that is by
design.

So is there a way to turn it off so only the picture of my choice is on the
wallpaper display? Or is this a default setting of Vista to cycle through
the pics?

Hello ljaquier,

My best guess is that you have set your screen saver to "photos" and that is
why your desktop background picture keeps changing. Your desktop background
picture (if you choose to have one) and the screen saver photos (if you
choose to have them) are two separate things that are set using two
different interfaces in Control Panel.

You can learn how to set your screen saver to photos (or to something else,
or to turn it off) by reading this Help and Support topic:

I hope this helps you with your problem. If it doesn't, let me know, and
please provide as much detail as you can about the steps you have taken to
set your desktop background picture.

Okay, Thomas. Thank you for trying to help me on this. I have the
screensaver set okay and I'm not having issues with it. I'm setting the
desktop wallpaper according to the directions that you have provided me and
I'm still getting the same thing. I will be working on an application and
close it and then find out that my background picture has and is changing
again. I guess it's not a huge problem as it's just cycling through my
pictures. I just wanted to have it be stationary and not a slide show. I've
noticed as well that no matter what I "personalize" my mouse pointer to, it
defaults back to the Windows Aero. I'm thinking maybe there's a glitch with
Vista? Let me know if you can think of anything else to try and if not, I'll
just live with it.

Hello ljaquier,

I'm stumped by your problem. I am sorry that you are experiencing this
issue. I have passed your information along to the correct team at
Microsoft. If I hear anything back from them that might be helpful to you,
I'll let you know.

Hi, can I please add that I am also having this problem. A friend who brought
the same computer at the same time doesn't. It is driving me a little mad. I
have been reading the posts and thought, this is me.
If you come up with any solutions, please also think of me.
Thanks,
Sentarla

unfortunally, my computer is bran new and it only has Vista on it. I know it
is not a conflict issue. It is just Vista.
Thanks anyway.

I have it, I have it, I have it (jumping up and down) It has also been
driving me totally nuts! After having a Doctor Who and Torchwood marathon I
was feeling really geeky so I had a play and found our solution. Okay here it
goes.

On your gadgets bar you should have a picture slide show, This is the pesky
thing that holds the key. You need to click your right side of the mouse on
top of the picture slide show gadget and then chose Options. Once you have
done that you will see options <g> One of the options are Change Desktop
Wallpaper. Set it to never. Once you do this your Wallpapers will stay where
they belong until YOU want to change them.
I am soooo happy now.
Hope this solves it. I know it drove me nearly mad. I ended up taking all
my pics out of the pics folder and only leaving in the one I wanted as my
desktop so it would not keep changing.
good luck and bye!
Sentarla :)
