When I boot up my desktop tool on the taskbar works but at some time during
my work session it will freeze up and no longer works. Don't no why or when.
What causes this?
How do I fix the problem?

it In the task bar there is an option to display your desktop. then has an
arrow next to it that when clicked on will show you all the icons that are on
your desktop.
For some reason this tool will freezes and I can no longer view the icons

Does anything else freeze up? Can you still open the Start Menu?

Here are a few things to try:

- Right-click the Toolbar, deselect the Desktop toolbar, exit. Then go
back in and select it again.

- Try lowering graphics hardware acceleration slide. You can lower
graphics hardware acceleration in Display Properties, Settings tab,
Advanced button, Troubleshooting tab. If this helps, you probably need
a different graphics card or drivers.

- Click Start, Run, and enter these lines, one-by-one:

regsvr32 ole32.dll (Press Enter key)
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll (Press Enter key)
regSvr32 /i shimgvw.dll (Press Enter key)
regSvr32 /i mshtml.dll (Press Enter key)

Joe what do the dll's do?

Firstly, regSvr32 registers these .dll's which are already on your
system, so that they're loaded and seen as needed. None of them are
dangerous; regsvr32 just re-registers these existing .dll's.

A .dll (dynamic link library) can contain command codes, fonts, and/or
icons.. some can be malicious, but none of these are downloaded; they're
already part of your system.

The ones listed above are used with drag/drop and other operations,
imaging, and shell commands.
