After a month away I came back to find my PC had been infected with spyware.
I got a free antispyware programme off the Microsoft sight and ran it and
cleared the offending bug. However now I cannot change the desktop
appearance to show selected photo's and the "browse" button is greyed out .
How can I go back to seeing a nice picture in the background instead of a
plain colour?

Hi V. Drew. Using one program to clean infections is not enough. If you used
on program to clean your machine chances are it is still not clean. You will
need to run at least two of each well recognized, both virus and spyware
checker these days. Microsoft products are a little behind right now at
identifying a lot of infections so you should use a more commercial software
like Norton, Panda, McAfee, NOD32, Bitdefender or Kaspersky for viruses and
Spysweeper, Counter Spy and Aluria Antispyware for spyware. Most of these
programs can be downloaded and installed on a trial basis for you to use to
clean your machine and use for a limited period. You can also use an online
scanner to check your machine.

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html are reputable ones.
