Hello

I used the expression "behind the wall" to denote the absence of pc 2 pc
direct connection due to:

- firewalls
- the two PCs have no real IPs
- two PCs that have NATed IP addresses
- other complications...

Is anyone aware of a remote desktop control tool that works from "behind the
wall" even if it provides simple remote control activity?

Hello, I'm actually using UltraVNC - http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/ -
(you didn't specify if it's Windows, Linux or some other, but this one
works for Windows & Linux).

I have an DSL connection at home, with no real IP and I'm using a
Lynksys WRT54G router which makes a NAT to my LAN. What I do is make a
relation with my router to http://www.dyndns.com/, which guarantee me
to ALWAYS find my PC remotely, no matter if it changed its IP. If you
don't have that router (which comes with that service) you simply enter
that page and they will solve your problems, I think they have an
application which runs as Windows/Linux Service and makes the IP
change.

Of course...if your network provider actually gives you a NATTED IP,
then I think it would be IMPOSSIBLE for you to do something about
because you need at least one real (not static)

You could also use the NAT-to-NAT add-on for UltraVNC:
http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/addons/nat2nat.html

Well...If you use UltraVNC from SourgeForce then you can do what you want.
Each PC can have there own port setup and the router just need to have the
port open....
Includes file transfeer and more...NICE tool...
