Desktop Reader Start Up & Shut Down

Hi Everyone

When I start my laptop and everything loads I get the following error
message box:- Installation Failed(3)

The Desktop Reader was unable to configure itself.
Please Try again
OK

If I click the OK button the error message disapears and when I try and shut
down it goes through the normal process and then the Windows Is Shutting Down
screen freezes, No Mouse Movement and nothing happens it just hangs there
until I disconect from the mains and remove the battery.

Are these faults connected or are they two separate issues here?

I would appreciate any help and advice please

It sounds like you tried to install an application Desktop Reader (or an
application that calls itself that), and that application needed to rebott
to finish installation. When you reboot, the installation fails and the
system cannot finish starting.

Try rebooting in Safe Mode and see what was installed lately thru Add/Remove
Programs.
You may have to re-run the installation of the app and/or Add/Remove the
application, reboot and if that fails, reinstall the application, then
Add/Remove again.

You could also check the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run* keys and
see if there are any entries handling Desktop Search.
