I have this problem:
I get a desktop but I don't have icon's on it. I can"t right click to get a
menu.
I can right click in a program or in the browser.
What is wrong?
How do I fix it?

If the task bar is showing, right click on it, select Toolbars then click on
desktop

if this is a transient thing, then Exporer has crashed or is hanging.
If it is always on, go to Control Panel - Display - Desktop Tab -
Customize - Web Tab
Uncheck "Lock Desktop Items and "My current web page"
Click ok and ok.

If it is Explorer, then ctrl-alt-del and close down the explorer.exe
process
Reboot and the problem should be gone.

Best of luck.

Thanks to all but the problem isn't fixt.

To wkalmes:
The only thing i get with your solution is that mij desktop icons get fixt
on the taskbar. I can access them all, but from the taskbar.
I think the problem is in a setting because I checkt and uncheckt everything
I could check and uncheck in wathever right-click menu i can get.
Thanks for the suggestions.

To AZGLI:
I can't count the nummer of reboots I did. In the display ontrol pannel i
only get two tabs (!) and that isn't normal. So I even can't do your
suggestion. The problem must be a level down.

To Kelly:
Thanks for the great scrips. (Keep u the good work) But, gess what, it
didn't fix it.

Maybe i didn't put the problem very well.
I can do:
- dubbel left click to open the start menu.
- access al my programs
- work in a normal way with my programs
- right click in the task-bar
i can't do:
- set a backgrond for my desktop
- right-click in my desk top
- show my icon's on the desktop

So the problem is the desktop, not the task-bar, not the program's, not
whatever. It's the desktop like it isn't even there.

But thanks for the suggestions. (I learn a lot with the problem and the
solutions)

Yes, I did them all 3 and a reboot.
The last one I did for the best posible. I had to choose. Did I make the
right selection? I check again.

I made other users on my computer.
For these other users, there is no problem.
So it must be a setting.
