I'm running XP with SP3. I prefer screen icons to 'Favorites' for storing
my most frequently used programs and links as the icons are quicker to
access and I have a lot of them. I don't have to look down a list of
directories and then, clicking on the directory, select the item from
another list. I group the icons in a logical pattern that makes sense to
me - not by grid nor by Auto Arrange.
My issue is with the things moving. For example, I have an icon that brings
up Microsoft Office Word that I usually keep in one place on my screen. I
just 'found' it towards the middle of the screen. I've found icons missing
from the right side only to show up in the left upper corner and all over.
There seems to be no order to it.
It doesn't happen often but enough to keep me puzzled. What could be
causing them to move? I stay away from the desktop directory with only rare
exceptions. All my downloads go to a directory labeled "Downloads" for
example so there is no need to get into the desktop.
Any ideas? Thanks much,
Mike
