Desktop Icons

Hi everyone,

This is a trivial question relative to others I've posted over the past year
but it's becoming a real nuisance.

Is there any way I can change the Icons accompanying the shortcuts on my
desktop? Most of them are the same - the blue "e" representing Internet
Explorer. The problem is that it takes me too long to scan through the icons
to find the shortcut I need and when multi-tasking, it frustrates me to no
end. If I could find more identifiable icons it would be much easier.

Like I said, a relatively trivial question, but I'd like to hear from you if
you have a sugestion. Btw, I use Win XP Pro.

Peace,
Terry

Use Firefox, there's no need for a desktop full of shortcuts with the
bookmarks toolbar.
I have my most used shortcuts with their favicons on the toolbar plus a
folder which opens as a drop down list with the rest.

1. Right click the shortcut and choose Properties. Then click "Chage
Icon".

2. (Better) Add them to your Favorites instead of putting an icon on the
desktop.

Thank you,

I agree. I haven't been making real efficient use of options other than tne
desk top. As I consider your advice I realize my only problem in foillowing
it is that I have developed the habit of chasing my most-used sites and
programs from the desktop. So all it actually requires is that I break that
habit and replace it with using the "Favourites" drop down box; Actually, my
Favourites list is quite extensive due to research of many topics and
subjects for my writing.

I'm about to change my ways. Thanks all.

Peace,
Terry

Try Favorites> Organize Favorites in the menu bar of an IE window. Create
folders to group related sites.
