Running XP Pro on an HP 512k RAM, 40gb hdd, I've recently encountered an
annoying problem whereby the icons on my desktop (about 40 or so) jumble
themselves out of the order I've arranged them in- under settings on the
desktop, I've tried locking the items on the desktop and aligning them to
grid as well but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated!

There were a number of viruses around about a year or so
ago that jumbled desktop icons, some more obviously than
others (one would make then all move around as you moved
the mouse over them!) .. sorry I cant be more specific,
but worth a mention.

I only encountered this problem when Windows doesn't shut down normally.
Are you having problems exiting the system?
