Desktop Icons - Show and Hide

Ad-Aware SE Personal has suddenly begun identifying a couple of Registry
entries in my computer as "Spyware". After several hours of testing during
which the "Spyware" has been removed every time is has shown up, I have
discovered that when the icons are moved from "showing" to "hidden", the
"Spyware" returns; or when a program, shuch as "Skype", is loaded with the
icons hidden, the Spyware returns, but doesn't when the program is loaded
with the icons showing. Here is what Ad-Aware has identified every time:

Description:program masks as doing one thing, but does another by using
false positives detections to trick the user into buying the commercial
version. Privacy policy not disclosed to the user prior to installation,
steatlh install and bundled with 3rd party software and installation is not
disclosed to the user.

Advice and solution, if any other than what I've been doing, will be
appreciated.

Can anyone provide me with the correct Registry entry or entries for the show
and hide features of Windows XP Desktop? Perhaps I can discover and correct
the problem that way.
