Has anyone found out how to remove the short cut arrow from the Desktop
Icons.

I've searched the group but found nothing.

Thanks

Well... They are shortcuts. They worked this way on XP.

The arrows is what makes the real files different from his shortcuts, so I
find logical that they have this arrow.

Regards,
Angel.

Correct Angel, but you could also disable them in XP as well

Thank you Angel I am pleased you find it logical.

However I'm still looking for an option to turn them off.

To remove the "Shortcut Arrows" go to both these keys...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LNKFILE

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PIFFILE

And delete the the entry that says 'IsShortcut' in BOTH keys. Then log off
and back on. You can export and save each key beforehand as to be able to
reverse any actions.

If you use the Preview Pane in Explorer you will lose the Favorite Links.

Thanks for the tip ! That did the trick. Hopefully, a Vista version of
TweakUI will eventually come along so that some of these little " quirks "
can be dealt with on an individual basis. .... JRH.

I didn't know that this can be done in XP. I've not found this option
anywhere.

But in that case, I think it would be nice to have this option in Vista.
