Desktop icons and taskbar

Since Dad visited and was on the computer, the desktop
icons and taskbar do not appear on the screen anymore,
only the photo wallpaper design. Using Task manager helps
bring the Earthlink toolbar to the forefront and trying to
end the process "buruxq.exe" activates the taskbar back to
the bottom of the screen and displays the desktop icons
again.
By the way, the aforementioned process never really ends
and generates itself numerous times over, before settling
back to one occurence.
Upon rebooting the computer, I'm right back to just my
wallpaper appearing.

Any suggestions?

Don't know exactly, but that sounds like an irritating virus to me. Might
need to give the system a run-over with your virus software. You do have
virus software, don't you?

Hi Bob,

Is that the correct spelling? If so, go to Start/Run/Msconfig/Startup and
uncheck it. If all goes well after a couple of days, remove it:

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)

If the process, restarts and/or isn't listed in msconfig, delete it from
here: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

And also do a search for the exe via Start/Search.
