Some of my desktop folders I would like to always open showing the
files as icons and not all the details. I change the view to icons but
the next time I open the folder it is in the view details mode again.
In the Folder Options Window under the "General Tab" I have "Open each
folder in its own window" selected and under the "View Tab" I have
"Remember each folder's view settings" selected. Can anybody tell me
if it is possible to have certain folders open showing the icons and
other folders details. Thanks.

Try opening your folder, set it the way you want it, then hit F5. This
refreshes the window and stores the settings in a list. If I remember
correctly, Windows only keeps so many settings. The more you do it,7 the
older ones get dropped of the list. This is not a permanent solution. Every
once in awhile you have to reset certain windows with the F5 key.

Works for me.
