Desk Top highjacked

My son's computer was infected with a virus, as well as
various spyware programs including Spy Sherriff. I
managed to remove these, however the desktop is frozen
and can't be changed. How do I fix this?

Jeff,

If after cleaning the system you still find that the Desktop still will
not revert to the desired setting try this :
Right click a blank area on the Desktop, choose Properties.
Click the Desktop tab. Click the Customize Desktop button.
Click the Web tab. Under the " Web pages " heading will be a list.
Click on those which were NOT knowingly placed here, then click the
Delete button. ( My Current Home Page is a legitimate entry ).
Click OK, and if any change was made, click Apply, OK to make the
setting stick.
