Design Template changing image aspect ratio?

G

Guest

Greetings,

I have several design templates that I have created that, when applied to a
presentation, appear to change the aspect ratio of images that are applied to
the main content area.

I have uploaded one of these POT files, and the PPT file that we are using
to test with, and if you apply the template to the show, you will see that
the aspect ratios of the images changes.

Here are the links:

Is there any way to avoid this?

Many thanks for your help,

Yes. Took a little headscratching but here's the deal:

On your sample presentation, your images aren't normal ones, they're text
placeholders. This can happen in PPT97 when you drag an image atop a text
placeholder or in a few other ways in other PPT versions.

Because the image is a text placeholder, it resizes when you apply a template.

Fix it this way:

For each of the images:
Ctrl+Drag it slightly to one side to create a copy of the image.
Delete the original.

Now try applying the template.

To prevent further problems, never drag or paste images into placeholders and go
to Tools, AutoCorrect Options, click the AutoFormat As You Type tab and remove
the check next to "Automatic layout ..."
