Demand Dial VPN

Jason Williams

I have a one-way demand dial VPN. Both RRAS routers are
configured with the same credentials, but when my remote
VPN dials in, it is treated as a client.

I've checked the settings everywhere and can't find a
discepancy. Any thoughts?

TIA,

Jason

To connect to the demand-dial interface, the username of the calling
router must match the name of the demand-dial interface on the answering
router. If it doesn't, it just connects as a normal client-server
connection. This is how a server with multiple dd interfaces knows which one
to use.

The other common problem is if the dd interface cannot get an IP. (The
interface itself must have an IP apart from the connection IP.) If it can't
get one from DHCP (or APIPA), give it a static IP manually.
