Dell PC won't log security events

We recently received 2 new Dell Latitude D600 laptops.
Neither will log log-on attempt failures or successes in
the Security Event Viewer. They will log log clears. Both
run Win2K, and are configured the same as other Win2K PCs
that log security events without problem. The difference
is in Local Security Policy - although configured the same
as the others that work OK, the Audit Policy Effective
Setting for the Dells is "No Auditing" and seeemingly
cannot be changed.

We're running a domain controller but find no problem
there. So far, Dell has been unbable to explain the
problem. Any/all help will be very much appreciated!

Apparently for some reason they are not receiving the domain/OU policy that
the other computers are. Make sure that they are in the same container
[domain/OU] as the other computers. Check that they do not have any firewall
configured on them while connected to the lan and that their tcp/ip
configuration is correct especially in regards to using an Active Directory
dns server as there preferred dns server and not an ISP dns server. Looking
for clues in Event Viewer and running netdiag looking for any failed tests
and running gpresult may also help track the problem down. --- Steve
