hi,

i am working for a client who needs his wireless network set up with a
linksys router. the configuration is a sony laptop, a dell laptop, and
linksys router connected to time warner cable. both computers are
running xp pro. both computers are connecting wirelessly to the router
and accessing the web. both computers are optaining ip address through
dhcp. here is the problem:

the DELL computer cannot access the workgroup. The SONY computer can
view the workgroup and sees the dell as a workgroup computer. the SONY
can ping the router and the DELL. the DELL cannot see the workgroup.
it gives me a permission error. it will ping the router but it will
not ping the SONY. i made sure that SFS was enabled on both computers.
i turned on the guest account on the DELL. i even reinstalled tcp/ip.
also, i renamed the workgroup on both computers. I also made sure
that all the proper services were running on the DELL. I did most
everything i could think of to get it to work but with no success. can
you please give me some advice on what to do now?

thanks.

I would check the firewall settings first.
