Deleting Text

I used to be able to delete blocks of text by highlighting and hitting
Backspace; now I can't. Is there somethiing in one of the menus that I
accidently changed?

Editing options (section)
'Typing replaces selection' (top left) CHECK the box

You've somehow turned off Typing Replaces Selection/Selected Text. In Word
2003 and earlier, Tools - Options - Edit, first option listed. In Word 2007,
Office - Word Options - Advanced - Editing options, first option listed.

Tools | Options | Edit: Typing replaces selection. (Word considers
backspacing "typing.")

"Delete" button!
