Deleting Tasks when Tasks folder cannot be found.

Outlook 2000

I assigned a task to two people. The task has been completed. The task is
now displayed in a public folder (I do not know how) and I am unable to
delete it. I am getting an error message saying that the Tasks folder cannot
be found. any suggestions?
