Debora,

Sorry it has been a while since we have provided some direction but may
this will help.

So essentially you have 2 operating systems on your hard drive.
To delete the one that you don't want (condering the one you do want is
operating correctly) will be take 2 steps.

1. Remove the folder that the unwanted operating system is installed to,
ie, C:\WINNT, right click the appropriate folder in Windows Explorer and
choose delete. Make sure to empty the Recycle bin.
To verify which folder is correct we will evaluate the boot.ini file.

2. The boot.ini file tells the hardware where to locate the operating
system we want to load at bootup.
In order to see this file in Window Explorer you will need to go to
Tools\Options in Windows Explorer.
Set the file settings to see all hidden and system files.
The boot.ini file is located in the system folder root, ie, C:\Windows.
Open the boot.ini file in Notepad.
Here is an example of what it will look like.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect
Under the [operating system] section highlght and delete the whole line for
the operating system you no longer want.
Save and close boot.ini.

3. Once you reboot the system you should not longer have an option for the
operating system you removed.

If you accomplish this successfully and it doesn't resolve your memory
error you may need to install more memory.

Hope this helps and hasn't been to detailed. Be careful with the boot.ini
file. If you have any question just let me know.
