deleting local user ...

At this moment I have no domain controller (AD), but will have probably
somewhere in the coming months. This means I need to create a local user (for
working purposes) on my laptop. This same user will also be used for eg
Outlook email.
My question:
When my domain controller is up I can delete this local user, BUT I suppose
not all data (files, folders, Outlook data, ...) related to this local user
are removed by just deleting the user? I like to keep my laptop clean,
therefore anyone has a list/document/... of what needs to deleted to keep
having a nice and clean system?

Thanks.

Why? You can always use your domain account with cached credentials. I don't
use local user accounts when I have a domain.

Oh - so you mean you're going to use a local user account *before* you join
a domain?
BUT I suppose

user

Deleting the user account may or may not delete its associated profile
folder. I'm honestly not sure as I don't use local user accounts.

If you want to delete your local user account, and its asssociated documents
& settings\username folder, that should take care of it - as long as you
don't need to use the account or access the data again.

Hope I haven't misunderstood you.

Depends on how you delete the user. In XP Pro/SP2, Go to System
Properties (Rt-clk My Computer/Properties, or Control Panel/System),
Advanced Tab, User Profiles Settings button, select the account,
Delete, Yes you're sure (you are sure, right?). Now click the User
Accounts link on that same dialog (or Control Panel/User Accounts)
Select the account, Delete the account, click Delete Files button, and
once again, you're sure, right. Click away.

I've noticed that if I don't delete the profile from the System
Properties first, sometimes it leaves things haning around the registry
or may not delete the folders on the disk. Make sure you get
everything out of there you may need before you delete it - maybe set
up the domain account first, just in case? You can also create a few
practice profiles and play around with deleting them first.
