Deleting from external drive - affect C: defrag?

I need to delete some old backups off my external drive (large files).

I have read that anything we bring up on the external drive gets processed
through the operating system drive (like recycle bin, etc., I think)

I just defragged my C: drive (OS) and it is clean and orderly. When I delete
these backups off the external drive, will I be messing up the C: drive's
defrag? What happens to the deleted files from the external drive?

Your clean and orderly hard drive begins to fragment the second after
your defragger closes, even if you're just sitting in front of your
computer with your arms folded. My advice is to not obsess about
unimportant things.
