windows is not allowing me to remove.
The problem is when looking in explore i have about 20 to
30 folder all with different folder names but all
contaning the same end exe file:-

example:-
C:\3e7e533f8b70d561c79910c8d41648cf\sp2\update.exe
C:\6dbefdebef0af91c926cbfb678ab\sp2\update.exe
C:\14a5d48a039e30b84e14867371\sp2\update.exe

If i click the exe i get a SetupError Setup could not
find the update.inf file needed to update your system.
How can i delete these files?????
Why are there so many all to the same exe????
Is there a way off turning of windows file protection to

IF YOU ARE RUNNING WIN XP GO INTO THE SAFE MODE AND DELETE
THEM BUT YOU CAN FIRST CLICK ON THE FOLDER AND SELECT ALL
FILE AND TRY TO DELETE THE FILE THAT WAY FIRST AND IF NOT
GO INTO THE SAFE MODE THAT WHAT I HAD TO DO

Hi, Paul.

Where are those files? Those long randomly-generated folder names make me
wonder if these are parts of the SP2 update that you have received but that
will not be installed until you have the full set. I'm not at all sure of
this guess, but please don't delete them until you learn what they really
are. If you are worried that they might be viruses, you can scan them with
your antivirus program. You DO use an antivirus, don't you?

It's not at all unusual to have multiple quite-different files with the same
name, of course, so long as they are not in the same folder. Many programs
use files named Setup.exe and ReadMe.txt, for example. Even though the file
names are identical, the files certainly are not. What are the sizes and
dates of the update.exe files?

They are hotfixes. They are safe to delete, but they may be there
because they have yet to be installed, were unable to be deleted, or
something like that. Safe Mode or close Explorer, navigate and delete
from DOS Prompt should do it.

No Cap Locks please. This method should work (you may need to take
ownership of the folder depending on your setup). You may also be able
to do it through Task Manager by closing Explorer, opening a command
prompt, navigate and remove the folders, then open explorer back up.
