Deleting Contacts Automatically from Distribution Lists

I have many contacts that may be in multiple distribution lists.

When I learn that a particular contact no longer exists, and needs to be
reomved from the contact list, merely deleting the contact doesn't remove
that person from any of the distribution lists they may be on.

Is there a way to automatically remove a deleted contact from all the
distribution lists that the contact may be on?

Or failing that, can I open a contact and learn which Distribution Lists
that contact is a part of?

Thanks in advance

Ron

Not without code or an add-in.

Lists that contact is a part of?

Same answer.

Why use DLs? Use categories instead. It will address this exact problem.

Thanks for the information!

However, I haven't been able to figure out how to send an email to a
"Category"

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Display your contacts by category view, drag the category to the inbox.

I am confused by Milly's advice. When I display my contacts folder by
category, the Inbox is not visible. When I display the Inbox, the contacts
folder by category is not visible. How does one, therefore, drag from the
category list to the Inbox?

you make sure that in the Navigation Pain - that's the bar on the left side
of screen, you use the Folder List. Now you can be in the Contacts and see
the Inbox. Grab some Contacts and drag to the Inbox as Milly described.

Using the mehtod discussed here definitley keeps us from having to delete a
person from multiple Distribution Lists. It is very slick!

However, if I want to forward an email to a "Category", does this process
work the same way?

I can't seem to make it work.

Thanks in advance for any help

While viewing your Contacts folder in the By Category view, select the
category and click Actions>New Message to Contact.

I'm sorry, but I must have not been clear earlier.

What I want to do is to take an email I have received, and then forward that
email to a goup of recipients who are all in a particular "category"

Thanks

Cut/paste works for me. Do the New Message to Contact action I mentioned,
then copy the To field it produces to the forwarded message.

That will work!

I have just read your notes and have decided that this is exactly what we
need to do in our office. Is there a way to assign a category to an existing
distribution list of clients or do we have to do them all manually?
