Deleting CAB Files ?

Is it SAFE or NOT ? Running Win XP3, (just upgraded from SP2), and noticed
that
HD has 394,959 KB of CAB Files, in various folder locations either in
Windows , Program Files or Temp Files, these files are identified as = (i.e;
i386,- Install Shield Information,- MSN Toolbar Suite,
-Temp/tbsc/disk1/disk2, etc, etc,etc.)
I identified these files with Easy Cleaner, and they are all showing file
Type as
"WinZip Files". Question: is it safe to remove these CAB files, by backing
them up to a CD Rom, and removing from my HD. It's not a matter of requiring
additional HD space, have 88 GB still available, with external HD 180 GB left.
Any assistance in answering this question would be greatly appreciated.

I usually have no problems deleting anything in the temp folder. Other
folders I would be very wary of deleting anything, especially if you have no
space issues on your hard drive.

if they are in your C:\documents and settings\username\temp folder then
you can delete them.
Others may be in uninstall folders and are used if you want to uninstall
something. You're taking gambles by removing.
I think you have to evaluate where they are and remove one at a time. I
feel comfortable removing anything in folders labeled temp. But beyond
that, no. ANd putting them on a CD might not be such a bad idea.

Thank You All for the response, information was very helpful. Guess nost of
the
CAB files, will remain as is, anything in Temp folders, can be deleted.

Thanks...WinnieBear43
