Deleted all Outlook accounts - won't let me add any new ones!

My Outlook 2002 / Windows XP installation has got into a state where all
previous email accounts set up under Outlook or Control Panel/Mail have been
deleted, but now I can't add any new ones.

In both Outlook or the Control Panel/Mail thingy I can navigate to the
'E-mail accounts' dialog, where you're offered to add new or change existing
e-mail accounts (or add or change directories and address books). But if I
select

'Add a new e-mail account'

....then the dialog that appears has all five options for server type greyed
out, so I'm unable to progress. Similarly, if I select the option to change
an existing account but from that dialog select 'Add...'

I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Outlook. No joy.

Clues, anybody?

Start with a clean profile instead of deleting the accounts from the
current.

Hi,

Apart from the above step, you could try modifying the system registry.

Start> Run> regedit
Browse through the following folders in the registry-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options

For the 'Options' folder in the registry, delete the following DWORDs
DisableHTTP, DisablePOP3, DisableExchange, DisableIMAP, DisableOtherTypes for
which the value is set to 1.

Restart the computer and check if the email account settings have been
enabled.

Thanks,

Mittu

Thanks for the clue, Mittu.

Deleting these DWORDS under

Office\11.0\Outlook\Options

....didn't fix it even with a reboot. But there are DWORDS with the same name
under:

Office\10.0\Outlook\Options

Changing the values of these DWOARDS from one (true) to zero (false) rather
than completely deleting them did fix the problem (and a reboot wasn't
required).

Wonder what I did to get all types of email account disabled in the first
place....

Mittu, thanks - I was having a similar problem. I was using my laptop for
work and accessed Outlook via Microsoft Exchange. When I stopped using my
laptop for work, I deleted the MS Exchange profile, but then couldn't set up
a POP3 account type. Deleting those REGEDIT keys helped. Now I have a new
problem... for some reason my SprintPCS server connection is being rejected!
It's always something!
