delete restore points

my computer came with a program called tech-in-a-box it
automatically creates a restore point every day. when i
go into disk clean up theres an option in there to delete
all but most recent restore points. it used to work now
it doesn't. when i go to delete all but most recent
restore points it doesn't do it. it cleans everything
else up but not the restore points. this just started, a
month ago was the last time i didn it and it worked then.
does anyone know why it won't work?

"Tech in a box" is not a windows program. You might contact the vendor that
put the program in your computer, and ask, or perhaps see if there is a
webpage for the manufacturer of the program that would be helpful to you.

If System restore is not working correctly, it is probably sensible to
clear it out and let it start clean too. System Restore. Check
'Disable System Restore, and OK, reboot. Now have Folder Options - View
set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide Protected mode ones and delete
everything in the System Volume Information folder on each drive

For XP Home you will need to do that by booting with F8 to Safe mode and
logging on as 'Administrator'. There you can do it on a FAT 32 drive;
on an NTFS one you will also need to r-click the folder, take Properties
and on the Security page add the user 'Administrator' and give it Full
Control access.

Start SR up again, and I suggest reviewing the settings for each drive.
There is not much point having it enabled on data drives, and on ones
with System or Programs I would reduce the space allotted if more than
say 1GB - I use 500MB, the minimum is 200 which will only handle maybe a
week of points. But the default of 12% of a drive seems too much for
its own good on modern large drives

Bear in mind that SR does itself make a point every day: I would try
running without that add-on program for a bit and see if it does a
satisfactory job of itself

Sorry - The turning off is in Control Panel - System - System Restore: I
forgot the lead in from Control Panel. As to finding the folder, the
instructions are in my previous post
