Delayed write failure on Firewirs connected HD

Recently I have been getting a "Delayed Write Failure" on one of my
external HD's. They are connected by Firewire connections.

I am running XP Pro sp2

Any thoughts out there?

For safety, delayed write should be disabled on removable devices.

Write Caching has been disabled all along.
Is that what you were referring to?

Here's some reading for you;

I'm still running SP1, so I don't get the delayed write falure.
I don't know if the hotfixes from MS work. If and when I go to SP2
before I plug in any firewire devices again (pci card, external drive
I'm going to rename Sp2.cab to SP2.cabold) That step prevents SP2 fro
installing it's whacked out drivers for firewire.
When XP asks for the drivers for my combo usb/firewire card & ext
drive, I'll just point it to the i386 folder on the SP1 CD.

After 5 levels of call support to SP2 help; format, re-install XP SP1
applications & data. (This after I was told to re-install SP1 over th
top of SP2 by MS) The guy in India didn't have a clue, you could tel
he was reading as we went along. He told me his name was "Larry."
Anyway, enough ranting about my stuff, I do hope I've pointed you i
the right direction. Post back if you need any more clarification.
