Delay in closing

Greg

When closing MS Outlook 2003 on a WIN2k machine there
seems to be a long delay. We have 600+ identical machines
and only 2 are seeing this problem. The message informing
you that MS Outlook is closing can take up to 1.5
minutes. Task manager shows no CPU utilization and memory
usage is showing at 1/2 of physical ram. Even the virtual
ram being used is less that the alotted. At times these
delays are also when opening an e-mail ( <3k w/o
attachments).
I have done a full reinstall of MS Offiice, ensured the
hdv did not need defrag, rebooted, and the other
standard "fresh start / prelaunch only the essentials".

Any suggestions?

Greg

Is this with the same roaming user profile for the same mailbox as well?
Have you doublechecked the physical cabling as well?

Fortunately we are not using roaming profiles. The
cabling is fine. The delays occur irregularly during use,
and regularly during closing of Outlook. At times the
speed in Outlook is amazing. Whenever there is a delay -
system idle is always at 98-99% Hard drive is less than
30% full. Swap file is 2x ram. I'm at a loss. The last
time I troublshot this machine it took over 2 minutes for
the message that Outlook was closing to go away.

Are we talking Exchange mailboxes here? Does it also happen when you log on
to that same mailbox on a machine you know that is fast?

Also; is there any software installed that integrates with Outlook? (like
virusscanner of synchronisation software?)
