Defragmenting

When I come to Defragment Volume D I am being told that the Disk Defrag has
detected that Chcdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (D). Please run
Chcdsk/f.

How do I solve this issue? What does it mean? And why did it arise?

Reboot and allow chkdsk to run.

Just use chkdsk and if the problem still persist then don't bother
using DEFRAG. DOwnload and install 3rd party software. This are much
better defragmenters and cleaners for free on the web. Just google it
and take your pick.

James,

Simply reboot the system once, and chkdsk will automatically run at next startup.

Open My Computer, right-click on the drive in question, choose Properties,
then Tools, then Defragment Now.

how do I defragment

Just to set your expectations: defragmentation defragments the files,
but not necessarily the free space - you don't end up with all your
files huddled together in one small area of your disk. You need a 3rd
party defragmenter to do that.
