Definition recommended action and another question

What does that mean? Is it one of the choices or do need to select either
remove or ignore ? This is really not clear !
At the oment I have chosen remove as the action for both high and medium
risk items but left those words for teh low risk.

Also an automatic scan is set daily but for 0200 am, and my computer is not
switched on then. But I do not know when my computer will be on so cannot
select any time with certainty. Why

Is there an option for scan on start up and if not why not?

You're absolutely right that it isn't clear, neither for you, nor for me,
nor for millions of other non-specialists who will be using Defender. Sadly,
most of those millions don't find their way to this newsgroup to express
their confusion; and so the message is painfully slow to get across.

There are signs that Microsoft is starting to pay attention to these
problems of communication, and there is a prospect that some of the messages
will be more clear in the final released version. But there is still a vast
gulf between the level of technical understanding and knowledge of jargon
assumed by Microsoft (and many other software developers) and the actual much
lower level of understanding and knowledge possessed by most of those who use
the software.

So please, please - do go on expressing your opinion of the lack of clarity
when you find it, and maybe we can slowly make some impact, because the
Microsoft guys do visit this newsgroup.

Gosh,
It's nice you agree its confusing. But do you realize you never answered
the question? I have been running WD over 4 months, and NEVER been asked
anything, and there are things in the history file. Some I want to put to
the "allow" list.
So how do I get WD to ask me about processes? I don't want to "allow"
automatically, I don't want to "remove" automatically, and "Definition
recommended action" doesn't seem to do anything. How about an option that
says "Prompt User for Action Desired"?
Please tell us how to get things onto the allowed/disallowed lists when it
never asks? How do I move an item from "history" to the "allowed" list?
Thanks

Oh my dear chap - if this newsgroup depended on my ability to answer
questions it would be in a very sorry state! I probably know less than either
you or AnneThe Lass! The fact that I've got my version of Defender running
smoothly at last is due entirely to the kind hearts and knowledge of the
experts who wander around this newsgroup! In particular, the arcane
interactions between what Defender puts in its history, and what events you
opt to be notified about, and what happens to your system restore points in
consequence - these I have never understood, I'm afraid. You need a better
man than I to answer these questions, as does Anne to answer hers.
