Default User name after screensaver resumes incorrect.States "User" How
do I change it?I had the computer store install windows they left User
as Windows registration name.--I changed the Registered to name in the
registery to the correct one--so now when you R click My computer that
is correct--but now when ever the screensaver activates and the log on
box shows "User" just like before still shows up.My password now works
with either User or my corrected name. How do I make the default name
that shows in the box what I want??.

Did they change the Windows XP Default Administrative account user name to
"User"?
If so, you can use TweakUI XP and tell the system not to show the "User"
account. It is under "Login"

Thank you but this caused the entire computer to start up and need to
be personalized.ie outlook ran as if just installed,etc..etc.I assume
there is no easy way to just change the name the computer displays
under Username after a password protected screensaver.

I think you're missing what's really happening. The shop installed
Windows and didn't make you a personalized user account. They made the
one called "User". This is completely different from "Default User".
"Default User" is a system account used as a template for all new
accounts, so just put that one out of your mind.

You can't just change the name of a user account. This is different from
the registered owner. You need to make yourself a new user account
called whatever you like and then - if you've been using the "User"
account - copy your data and settings to the new one.

Here is a link that will walk you through it. You need to log into the
new user account once before you can copy anything to it.
