Default printer not selected

I am using Word 2003.

When we log on every morning everyone in the office who is using Word 2003
is required to reselect a printer before printing. The default printer is
not automatically selected. When selecting "File" "Print..." the printer
name is always blank. Why isn't 2003 retaining this setting? We did not
have this issue with 2000? This is not a major problem but it can be very
annoying when you need to print in a hurry first thing and forget that you
can't just select the printer icon on the toolbar.

Have you confirmed that there is actually a default printer selected in
Windows?

Thanks for the prompt reply Suzanne. Yes, there is a default printer
selected. Every program I use, including Excel, Outlook, and all the others
in the Office suite can find it. It is only Word that needs to be reselected
with every logon.
