Default mail format reverting to Plain Text

I've selected Rich Text as the default mail format, but when i disconnect
from the LAN or restart the laptop, the default mail format reverts to Plain
Text, any ideas ?
App = Outlook 2K, OS = Win 2K

Are you logging into the machine the same when on-LAN & off? You might be
using two different user profiles

Yes, using the same profile, for instance, I can launch outlook, set the
default mail format to rich text , but if i close outlook and disconnect
from the LAN and re-launch Outlook the default format has reverted back to
plain text.
