default html editor?

I used to have Word XP as the default html editor through outlook.

In IE6 Word used to be listed as the default editor. Currently only notepad
and excel appear as choices in the editor drop down box.

I have marked the boxes in outlook to have Word as the email editor and the
rich text editor.

What do I need to do to get Word back as my email editor in all apps? (IE6,
Outlook xp SP3, and word in the xp office suite)

I did a bit of research on this and found the following in the Microsoft
knowledge base from Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 250815

"To work around this issue, save a foreign HTML file to your desktop (for
example, http://www.microsoft.com), and then open the file in Word. In the
Office Assistant dialog box, click Yes to make Word your default HTML
editor."
or, you can do the following

Edit the registry: (note, be very careful editing the registry. Export the
current key to a file just to have a backup)

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.htm\OpenWithList
Add a key for Winword.exe.

Close Internet Explorer and reopen it. When you go back to Tools | Internet
Options | Programs and go to HTML Editor, Microsoft Word for Windows will
be listed in the drop-down box so you can select it.

I hope this helps!
