Not sure if this is the right newsgroup...
My machine is a Compaq Evo D510 CMT with Windows XP Pro,
P4 2.53GHz CPU, 1 Gig RAM, 80GB HDD, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX
100/200 AGP with latest ForceWare 53.03 drivers from
NVidia.
Any attempts to change the screensaver to one of the
Windows' 3D screensavers (Flower Box, Flying Objects,
Pipes, Text) causes the system to slow to a crawl and
eventually a lockup. Sometimes I'm able to finally get
into Task Manager and kill the screensaver process and
cancel the Display Properties dialog so I can get my
system back. This problem happens even on a fresh
install of Windows XP.
I've ran a DirectX Diagnosis and it didn't report any
problems, and all video tests were successfull.
Is this a known problem with Windows XP and the default
3D screensavers or is it my video card and drivers? Is
there anything I can do to be able to use them or will I
need to uninstall them?
Thanks,
Jon.
