Some (forgot who/where) also recommend to keep
EWH32.api

Any idea why / what it's for?

See <http://www.daube.ch/share/win14.html>. I don't think the list
there is exhaustive, but it explains a lot of the Acrobat Reader
plugins.

Without EWH32.api, some people report the app freezing; I guess this
can happen if you try to load it within a browser.

Hi »Q«,

Nice, thanks.
It says that EWH32 "allows users to view PDF files in their web
browser." I'll see if I can nuke it (FF opens external appl).

Yes it does; I just tested it.

OK, you got me interested again, you mean it will open a pdf-webpage in the
browser ? How did you get this to work ? I'll give it another try if this
works.
Allthough I must say since I disabled the startup-screen in AR4 and only
left these api-files:
weblnk32.api
EWH32.api
it now takes under a second to open a pdf in K-Meleon.

Oh, er... I dunno. Give me a link and I will try it.

What I meant is that when I click on a pdf file from within K-Meleon,
Foxit launches at once and opens the thing.

OK, I got that to work, but I want it to show in the browser.
It might work by downloading the nppdf32.dll and put in K-Meleons plug-in
folder, that's required by AR to integrate in Netscape-based browsers.

Oh, I see. I wouldn't have a clue about that

Nope

I think it would need a BHO or DLL file in order to open in your browser.
SInce FoxIt runs from 1 file, the outlook is not good.

FWIW: Old Netscape v4 freezes (sort of; it eventually recovers
with error a la "not enough memory").

Firefox 0.8 is fine, i.e., starts AR.

All that with AR's option "Display PDF in browser" OFF.
