Debugging problem - watches dont work

I'm writing an ASP.NET application and all of a sudden my watches don't
work. The "+" sign appears next to them but you cannot drill into them.
(The "+" dissappears when you click it and the item does not expand).

Is it possible that a change to web.config would cause this? Or is this a
known bug? I cannot find any reference to it anywhere on the web.

I am able to create a new, dummy project (either windows forms or web pages)
and the watches work fine. It's something in my current project but I
cannot imagine what it could be.

Any suggestions gratefully received !

Hi!

it's a known bug!!!

my personal workaround:

1. restart visual studio
2. remove all files from this folder: C:\Documents and
Settings\user\VSWebCache\
3. restart your 'Word Wide Web Publishing Service'

Thanks Gicio, I tried all that but unfortunately it made no difference.
Still got the same problem.

Very intersting though, I didnt know about the VSWebCache folder until now.
I'm keeping an eye on what VS puts in there when I run the project.

Any other ideas?

other idea:

repeat step 1-3 + remove your bin folder (in your project) and rebuild your
solution / project.

Tried that, it made no difference (

But the good news is that my collegue has now solved the problem by amending
the AssemblyInfo.vb files in each of the projects.)

Thanks for your fast replies!

Heya Owen,
When do you try and use the watch?
The watches in .NET are available on in break - mode -
You must put a break point to see the parameter's value in the watch

Hi Joey.... I use the watch in debug/break mode. The watch was not working.
The "+" sign appeared but I could not drill into the watch. Not only this
but the value displayed in the watch was incorrect.
