DC registry

Hi all,

My domain currently has 2 DC's. Previously it had a
third but we demoted it successfully. It is still in the
domain as a member server.
On one of the current domain controllers under
LocalMachine>System>CurrentControlSet> Services>NTDS
Parameters the 'Src Config NC Srv' and the 'Src Root
Domain Srv' both show the demoted server in the data
field.
Do I need to worry about this and if so, can anyone
point me toward an article(s) that address this situation?

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve. Did you have any luck? I have the same thing and the ol
server is no longer in the domain. There are no references to it i
DNS, but that registry setting (Src Root Domain Srv) is still there.
Looks like it's tied to a specific objectGUID as well. I'm not to
sure what effect, if any, it will have on the domain. I see that m
Exchange server occasionally tries to query that server. There aren'
any references to the old ldap server that I can find anywhwere on th
mail server.
*Remove the Computer Account if the demoted Domain Controller
doesn't remain
in the domain as an member server, also clean up dns after record
pointing
to the demoted Domain Controllers. You can also have a look at th
