Dates changing in Word

When I open a document to print that I made a week ago, the date changes to
todays date instead of the date I typed in when I did the document? I can't
seem to find how to turn this off? it is driving me nuts as I have quite a
few invoices I need to print and don't what to have to manually change each
invoice to the date I first typed up the invoice.

Hi Huskynunn,

That's because the the date is in a DATE field, and those update automatically. Depending on your needs, you might be better off
with a CREATEDATE, PRINTDATE or SAVEDATE field. You can change the existing field to any of those by selecting the problem field,
pressing Shift-F9 to expose the field code, editing the 'DATE' string, then pressing F9 again to re-set the field.

If you want the date to keep updating as it does now until you're ready to lock it, you could leaver it alone until then, at which
time you could select it and press Ctrl-Shift-F9 to convert the field to plain text.

Cheers

To avoid the problem macropod has covered for existing documents with future
invoices, change the date field in the invoice template to a createdate
field.
