I have a spreadsheet with data validation turned on that I am having problems
with. I am unable to enter data in the cells with the drop down boxes - it
makes me choose from the list. If data is entered, it gives an error message
that the data is invalid (even thought it matches the data in the lookup).
Any ideas what may the problem?

Hi Shelby1

It sounds like you have the Error Alert turned on in your data validation.
What you need to do is go to Data, Validation.. on your Excel toolbar. Then
in the Data Validation pop-up click on the Error Alert tab and uncheck "Show
error alert after invalid data is entered". This will allow you to type in
your own data as well as using the dropdown list.
