Data Transfer b/n Computers

What is the easiest way for me to transfer large amounts
(5+ gigs) of data from a laptop to a desktop (ie. not
using the internet). Will both computers recognize each
other when connected through a USB cord or do I need
additional software? Both machines are running XP. Any
suggestions would be very helpful!! Thx!!

There are several ways to do it. You can learn about them
by going to "Help & Support" and typing in "Network"
or "Direct Cable Connection". (Also try typing in "Files &
Settings Transfer Wizzard".) The least expensive is with a
direct cable connection and a "Crossover" or "Data" cable.
