Data Miner Spyware? and Internet Explorer

Recently I ran the Ad-aware 6 and it found two objects as
below:

1- Vendor Name: Alexa, Type: Reg key, Ctegory: Data Miner

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNET
EXPLORER\EXTENTIONS\{c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a}
\

2- Vendor Name: Windows, Type: Reg Data, Category: Data
Miner

HKEY_CURRENT_USER:
SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\MEDIAPLAYER\PLAYER\SETTINGS\

if you right click on one of the above mentioned objects
on the adaware window and choose details it tells you
that this object has been downloaded by "MICROSOFT
INTERNET EXPLORER", keeping this in my mind I did a
search in google and i got this web site:

http://www.imilly.com/alexa.htm

which provides a good information on this. My question
is that, is this really a Spyware which has been
downloaded by internet explorer? and if yes, what kind of
info. it sends back to Alexa and msn? and how microsoft
can do such a THING??? whithout informing the users?

Any comments will be appreciated.

thanks

Hi Don,
Thanks for the info. Do you think if I remove it using ad-
aware, it will be fine? and how can I remove the " show
related links" in internet explorer under Tools menu?

Hi,
Go to http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php? page=spybotsd and put alexa
into the Quick Search field. The author explains things pretty well.

Hi again,

I actually removed it from the registry and therefore
the "show related links" is gone. This is just awful. I
lost my trust that I had for Microsoft. They are better
think about it a little more. I sent a feedback to
microsoft too.

thanks very much
