Data Form does not allow entry in some fields

Excel XP on Windows XP

Excel database with only 4 fields( Name, date, type, notes). The data form
displays all 4 fields and values in browse mode. When NEW buitton is selected
to enter a new record, only the last field NOTES allows data entry. I should
expand here a bit; the first three fields do not display the value box in NEW
mode.
There must be something controlling this that I can't locate. I tried adding
a couple of new fields and those show up and allow data entry.

Accepting any and all ideas suggestions, and thanks in advance!

Excel does not have databases. It has workbooks with worksheets. Excel does
not have browse mode. Are you confusing Excel, the spreadsheet processor,
with Access, the database processor?

Are the first 3 fields formulas?

Is the worksheet protected with the first 3 columns having the cells locked and
the column having its cells unlocked?

Database, table, or spreadsheet used to store data. The Excel >Data> Form
menu selection was what was where I was experiencing the problem. HAve yet to
discover what caused the problem, but worked around it by copying data into a
new workbook. The data entry form worked as expected in the new worksheet. I
plan to use the corrupt workbook as a learning opportunity is this afternoons
class.

Thanks for your input

You were right on target DAve, Thanks so much.. I had originally used a
choose formula to randomly populate my data table with sample data. Then I
pasted special>values, leaving the formula in teh very last row( In case I
needed to recreate that later) You prompted my memory-- as soon as I moved
those formulas to a non-copntigous area the data entry form worked great.

Thanks for jogging my memory!
